We welcome back the Deputy Director of Media Relations for the American Legion, John Raughter, to the show. In this segment, Randy and John discuss the scourge of veteran suicide, and the American Legion’s new “Be the One” campaign. This is a great opportunity for people to commit to saving just one veteran who is suffering from depression and suicidal ideation.

We welcome Dr. Michelle Oakley, the star of the hit TV series, “Yukon Vet” on National Geographic Wild, available for its 11th season via Disney+. Randy and Michelle talk about her upbringing, and how she found herself leaving the Midwest for the untamed Yukon, as well as how her family’s growth has been documented by this great series.

Randy and Sheila talk about the importance of education for our country and the critical thinking skills that are afforded by having a robust music education in their curriculum. Barbara Eden
Star of “I Dream of Jeannie,” actress Barbara Eden, joins The National Defense. We talk about her legendary acting career, her belly button, and her many proposals of marriage via the US Postal Service (most coming from Randy). Barbara is 91 years old and is traveling around the country with the Christmas Con, featuring 26 celebrity guests celebrating Holiday films.
Vicki Lawrence
We welcome one of our favorite comedic actresses, Vicki Lawrence, to the show. We talk about her legendary acting career, her multiple trips to support our troops in Vietnam, and her one-woman show where she has been able to reconnect with veterans.
