We welcome Chris Willingham, President of United States War Dogs Association, to talk about working military dogs, and the special bond they form with their handlers. USWDA was established in 2000 by five dog handlers who served in Vietnam. Representing the Marine Corps, Army and Air Force, they found a common bond and formed an organization to honor war dogs; past, present, and future. USWDA started with a mission of raising money to dedicate a memorial to honor the legacy of war dogs.
We welcome Esther Leibfarth, Senior Staff Attorney for National Veterans Legal Services Program, to the program to discuss how her group is helping veterans make sure they get what they deserve. The NVLSP has been serving veterans since 1981, and in this segment, Esther shares t a few stories of veterans they have helped over the years through the pro-bono arm of the NVLSP: Lawyers Serving Warriors.
